Department of Medical Oncology 

Scope of Service: 

The Medical Oncology department is strongly committed to offering and establishing guidelines for medical treatment for solid tumors and hematological malignancies. We aim to deliver the best possible care to patients, and provide an education program that generates world class oncology clinicians and researcher. Our mission is to help in curing cancer in Egypt through an integrated multidisciplinary patient care, prevention, research and education. 
Our patient care services include: 
1.
Outpatient clinics and outpatient CTH infusion unit. 

2.Inpatients wards for solid tumor patients offering chemotherapy for longer infusion periods and supportive care. 

3.Inpatient hemato-oncology ward treating all types of acute leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma patients.

4.Breast cancer specialized center located at first settlement, offering the utmost standard of care in the management of breast cancer.

Our main focus of education includes
1.
Post-graduate education and training: MSc, MD in medical oncology (credit hours system)

2.Egyptian Fellowship program and accreditation,

3.Weekly departmental meeting on Monday: Journal club/ mortality and morbidity/ case presentation (tumor board). We also participate on the weekly NCI conference which is held every Monday morning. 

4.The department is a local organizer of an external session of the  European society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) exam. This local session is  held at the same day and time as the main session held at the ESMO Congress venue place

Our main focus of research:
1.
Basic science, population, and clinical studies of national Interest, 

2.Participation with other departments in clinical and basic studies, 

3.National grants in the field of cancer management, 

4.Active members of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) in Brussels, Belgium, and participate in many multicenter trials &  for cancers of the breast, GIT, lung, lymphomas, melanoma and soft tissue sarcomas
